1958: Born, London, UK
Educated: Kingsdale Comprehensive, Dulwich, London
- 1977 – 81:
- Studies Bachelors Degree Fine Art at Middlesex University tutored by Dante Leonelli, makes first holograms at Goldsmiths University tutored by Michael Wenyon
- 1984 – 86:
- Studies Masters Degree in photography and holography at The Royal College of Art tutored by Graham Saxby, Michael Langford and John Hedgecoe
- 1988:
- Awarded worlds first PhD in Holographic Imaging at The Royal College of Art tutored by Sir Christopher Frayling. Exhibits his first series of Pulsed holograms
- 1988 – 92:
- Creative Development Manager at Third Dimension Limited. Develops mass replication techniques for film holography
- 1992 – 94:
- Creative Development Manager at Light Impressions Europe PLC. Trained in embossing techniques for security holography
- 1994 – 2005:
- Opens own company The Holographic Image Studio Ltd. Records large format display holograms, exhibits globally and develops micro-lens lenticular technology for the advertising industry
- 2005 – 07:
- Senior Research Fellow, Imaging Communication Design, DeMontfort University, Leicester. Successful completion of two industrial Knowledge Transfer Partnerships. Publishes first book ‘Spacebomb: Holograms & Lenticulars 1980-2000’
- 2007 – Current:
- Professor of Modern Holography, peer review. Awarded Saxby Medal by The Royal Photographic Society. Awarded major Technology Strategy Board (TSB) research funding to develop holographic light guides. Publication of second book ‘The Prime Illusion: Modern Holography In The New Age Of Digital Media’
